OIG provides oversight to the District of Columbia government programs and operations. The OIG runs the District’s Hotline, where residents, employees, and stakeholders can report waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement. Those complaints, when criminal in nature, are investigated by our Investigations Unit or our Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. The OIG also audits, inspects, and evaluates District programs and operations, providing recommendations that District leaders can use to be more efficient and effective.

NOTE: We do not have jurisdiction over federal government employees or their contractors, and these matters should be directed to the inspector general’s office within the appropriate federal agency.
